Dean Anderson – (Certified)

Hello I am Dean Anderson and have been a resident of Mission Hills for about 28 years. I am turning in my 2016 Neighborhood Council Elections – Candidate Filing Form for the position of At-Large Stakeholder Board Member. I have seen the Mission Hills community evolve over the years to where it is now. I have been to many Mission Hills Neighborhood council meetings through the years and have seen many different board members. I have recently gone door to door in the Mission Hills neighborhood to announce my candidacy or appointment to the Mission Hills Neighborhood Council Board. I have listened to what Our Neighborhood has said and in general there are concerns about the quality of life here going down. There are also concerns about how this neighborhood is being developed and that the Stakeholders voice is not being heard. Vote for Dean Anderson and I will promise transparency regarding these issues and I will do what is in my power to give the Mission Hills Stakeholders a voice.

I have lived in Mission Hills for over 40 years. I am a positive, open-minded person. I’ve don a lot of community work, not all
in the Mission Hills community. Here are a few important ones I have been involved in.

  1. I was one of 2 people who vehemently opposed the closing of the Devonshire post office. Now we are faced with losing
the Sepulveda Annex in 2 years. Leaving Mission Hills without a post office.
  2. I was part of the ” Kut The Kaboom” group that with the help of Councilman Fuentes Office, we now have “4th of July Fireworks
Show ” at San Fernando High School..
  3. I headed a small group, ” the PSG (Pacoima Spreading Grounds Project) Group”, which worked closely with L.A.County
Public Works setting up guidelines and preventive measures to ensure the health and welfare, safety, and the quality of life to our community
is not vastly affected. Check out our website PSGPROJECT.INFO for more information.

VOTE FOR ME……. I will listen to your concerns, issues. I will be your voice at meetings. I will represent YOU, the community because
what you have to say means something to me. I AM HERE FOR YOU NOT ME.. ….. AND I HAVE NO OTHER AGENDA …..

I have called Mission Hills my home for the past 13 plus years and have lived In the SFV for over 40 years. I’ve seen businesses both big and small come and go, and I’ve seen our way of life changed significantly during that time.
If we have learned nothing else from the 2016 election results, we should now know it is imperative for everyone concerned about the preservation of the principles upon which our nation is built to get involved and have their voice heard. Ideals such as Freedom, Equality and Justice for All should unite us, not divide us.
On every issue from the environment, to health care, to education, to housing and growth, to small issues affecting our individual families, it is important for every to do their part to ensure that no one is left behind as our nation moves forward. It really is true that we are stronger together, and that united we stand, divided we fall.
I call upon everyone in the neighborhood to join me in answering the call to public service by doing their part, no matter how small to help our community flourish.
Thank you for your consideration.

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and recently moved to the lovely city of Mission Hills. My initial goal and idea when I moved into the neighborhood was to be part of the community and help in any way I could … and this is the best place to start.
I’m excited to meet and work alongside stakeholders, listen to and address your concerns and take all of that back to the city so we can really make a difference in our community- together! I want to work with the city in beautification projects, safety/security projects and allocate our city funds wisely that will help with the betterment of our community, families and children.
I am here to stand with the community and further support and assist in any way I can.
Please join me in voting for your Mission Hills Board Members and I truly hope that you will vote for me, MELISSA SERRANO, for the Homeowner’s Seat, Friday, January 27, 2017.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at meliserr10@yahoo.com.

I, Emerlita Medrano, would want to be at your service as one of the boards and be a part of the team of the MHNC under the category of a Residential Homeowner stakeholder seat. I live in Mission Hills for sixteen years and I decided to participate in the activities, issues and concerns as well as achieving goals for the betterment of this community. Now that my children are out of college, I am able to have more focus to deliver my service to this neighborhood. I believe that If given the privilege, I have the capabilities and time to attend to the events to share my banking, communication and to learn other skills needed for the development of any outstanding projects now and in the future to come.

I am running to join the Mission Hills Neighborhood Council for multiple reasons. My wife and my five children and I live in Mission Hills and have been home owners for 3 years here. My Grandparents lived in Mission Hills for most of their lives, so I was pretty much raised here. In addition I run a small business from my home so my interest are both personal as well as from a professional and business standpoint. I have an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and have been employed full time with Microsoft for the last 10.5 years. The reason why I would Love to be a part of MHNC, is because I am really into Police work. I am Looking forward to Talk with expiernced officers. I also want a better community for my elders and my auntie.

Savannah Pinedo – (Certified)

My name is Savannah Pinedo and since I can remember, I’ve had the passions that would make me the most qualified for this position.
Being a student at Bishop Alemany with a 5.0 GPA, I know the sacrifice and drive necessary to make something the best it can possibly be. Moreover, being a varsity softball player, I have developed the leadership skills and dependency that I believe will benefit the Mission Hills community. As a member of speech and debate, I also possess the communication skills that are so important for the representation of the values of a community. These skills especially have helped me manifest the passions that I have into community service: I help raise money by recycling at school to also make and serve food at the Sylmar Homeless Shelter. I am also a volunteer tutor at school and MEND, ensuring that children of all backgrounds receive educational enrichment, and more. By serving my community in this way, I believe I have continuously developed my passions for community enrichment. I hope that I am able to start using these skills and passions to be the best Youth Chairman that Mission Hills could have.
