pastor 001Robert E. Green, Sr. – My family has lived on 108th and Wilmington for over 50 years. This community has given us so much and I want to reciprocate by running for the Faith Based Organizations Representative council seat. I believe I am the ideal person for this position because not only have I lived here, but I pastor at The Branch Church on 103rd Street for almost six years, which has afforded me the opportunity to see the needs of the community by working closely with the people in the community. I have responded to this need by operating a weekly food bank, a free summer foods program and an annual back to school health fair. I will go above and beyond to unite other churches and faith based organizations to come together and work for the greater good of the community. It will be an honor to serve this great community.

Capture.CynthiaCynthia Gonzalez – I am lifetime resident of Watts. I went to UCLA and USC to complete my BA and MPH, respectively. Last year I interned for the Council District Office of Joe Buscaino to complete a community needs assessment of Watts, known as the Watts Community Studio. Through this effort, I was able to establish relationships with many Community Based Organizations and committed myself to forming a coalition of agencies in Watts in order to learn more about opportunities and services in the community. Ultimately, I want to honor and commemorate the legacy of community in Watts, since next year will be the 50th year of the 1965 Revolt. This can only happen amongst unified agencies and leaders that serve the residents of Watts. Thank you for this opportunity.
