Are you registered yet? The long-anticipated Valley Disaster Preparedness Fair is tomorrow, Saturday, October 3, 2015! Starting at 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, you can jump-start your disaster preparedness with information, activities, demonstrations, lessons, and five half-hour preparedness talks by noted experts in the field, including seismologist Dr. Kate Hutton. Family Emergency Preparedness (EP) Starter Kits will be distributed for free (while supplies last) to registered families. There will be giveaways, prizes, and a free lunch of hot dogs, burgers, and veggie burgers (also while supplies last).

At the family-friendly Fair, children can experience a simulated earthquake in the Yogi Bear Shakey-Quakey School House and learn about safe behaviors and preparedness from the Red Cross Children’s Safety Puppet Show. Children will also enjoy the insect display by the “Bug Lady” from the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District, who teaches us which insects transmit diseases (“vectors”).

Mark Hovater, Video Producer, has created a promotional video for the Fair. You can watch it here.

Come to the Fair! And, please encourage your stakeholders, family, and friends to register and attend. Everything at the Fair is free, thanks to our generous supporters and contributors, including many Neighborhood Councils throughout Los Angeles.

Thank you for helping all of Los Angeles get prepared for disasters.
