This week, the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment staff had the pleasure of getting briefed by Captain Ruby Malachi and Lieutenant Al Labrada from the LAPD Chief of Police’s Community Relationship Division (CRD). CRD is a growing division whose mission is “to build relationships and trust between the Department and the diverse communities in Los Angeles while leveraging best practices in community outreach and community policing; and, cutting-edge digital media technologies.” Neighborhood Councils have always had public safety as a top priority for their communities and engaging with CRD would be a fruitful endeavor to help foster positive relationships and help reduce crime. Here are some of the CRD’s community engagement events that Neighborhood Council board members can attend including:

Fall Friday Night Lights– Every Friday evening at various sites citywide
Days of Dialogue– CRD coordinates workshops every month rotating Areas throughout the City
