Congratulations to the new Director of the Bureau of Street Lighting, Norma Isahakian! Norma was appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti and confirmed by City Council on Tuesday. The Bureau of Street Lighting is one of five Bureaus in the Department of Public Works. The Bureau of Street Lighting is responsible for the design, construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the street lighting system within the City of Los Angeles. There are currently more than 210,000 lights in the City consisting of more than 400 designs. Norma takes the place of former Director Ed Ebrahimian, who retired last month.

After a national search, Mayor Garcetti has appointed Interim CAO Richard Llewellyn as permanent CAO. Rich has been Interim CAO for the past year. As CAO, his office has direct oversight over the City’s $8.8 billion budget, labor negotiations, debt management and major policy issues as directed by the Mayor and/or City Council, including the proprietary departments of Department of Water and Power, Airport and Harbor. The City Council will still need to confirm the appointment this month. Congratulations to Rich!
