PlanCheckNC is the Neighborhood Council alliance focusing on planning and land use issues. Land Use Committee members are especially encouraged to attend, but anyone interested in learning how to navigate the City’s planning and development process is welcome. PlanCheckNC meets every 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 am. at Hollenbeck Police Station, 2111 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033.

At the February 10th PlanCheckNC meeting, Department of City Planning (DCP) presented on the relationship between Citywide Transit Oriented Communities (TOC), Affordable Housing Incentive, and Transit Neighborhood Plans (TNPs) program that encourages livable communities and employment centers around the region’s expanding transit network.

Transit Oriented Communities Affordable Housing Incentive Program was shared and with the passage of Measure JJJ, the DCP created the TOC Affordable Housing Incentive Program Guidelines (TOC Guidelines) for all Housing Developments located within a one – half mile radius of a Major Transit Stop.

An overview of the Los Angeles Transit Neighborhood Plans (TNP), was also provided. The TNP program covers about 26 stations, of the 7 Metro lines, which aims to increase transit ridership, reduce greenhouse gases, and encourage transit oriented development. She focused on the Exposition Corridor TNP, which includes 5 transit station (Culver City, Palms, Westwood, Sepulveda, and Bundy Stations). The plan has gone through the City Planning Commission last November, and it was recommended for approval. It will be going to City Council within the next few months.
