Tuesday, September 22nd, was National Voter Registration Day. In partnership with LA City Clerk, EmpowerLA sent out a team of field representatives to 9 Los Angeles Community Colleges to present the Neighborhood Council system and promote election outreach. From the San Fernando Valley, presentations took place at Pierce College, Valley College, and Mission College. From South LA and Central, presentations took place at Southwest College, Trade Tech College, and LA City College. East LA College, West LA College, and Harbor College were also visited by our team. Over 50 classes were presented to, their topics ranging from political science to history to psychology to English to sociology to business to law. Over 1,550 students were connected with either in class or at a booth, and they were introduced to the Neighborhood Council system and encouraged to vote, volunteer, or run for a board seat.
