I hope our newsletter finds you well. cleanstreetsI was delighted today to join the Board of Public Works and Commissioner Josh LaFarga from our Board of Neighborhood Commissioner to honor our Clean Street Heroes Cheron McAleece from East Hollywood Neighborhood Council and Tom Johnson from Northridge West Neighborhood Council. You can read more about their fabulous work in their communities below or check out Cheron’s video and Tom’s video online. HUGE thanks to Cheron and Tom for their leadership and to the Board of Public Works, Commissioner LaFarga, ITA and our staffer Octaviano Rios for making this well deserved recognition happen!

FullSizeRenderSpeaking of recognition, I want to give a shout out to Winnetka Neighborhood Council for taking the time to do a 2015 year end review of the great work they have done for their community. This is really a best practice for Neighborhood Council members to give themselves a pat on the back for the wonderful work they do each year. Other examples of Neighborhood Council excellence this week are Hollywood United Neighborhood Council’s awesome speaker forum series Wednesday on budget and infrastructure with Controller Ron Galperin, Board of Public Works President Kevin James and former County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and those Neighborhood Councils who participated in the 2016 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count:

  • Empowerment Congress West Area Neighborhood Council
  • Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council
  • Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council
  • Mid City Neighborhood Council
  • Mid City West Neighborhood Council
  • Olympic Park Neighborhood Council
  • Palms Neighborhood Council
  • Rampart Village Neighborhood Council
  • South Robertson Neighborhood Council
  • Sylmar Neighborhood Council
  • West Los Angeles Sawtelle Neighborhood Council
  • Westwood Neighborhood Council

Thank you for your inspiring work!

Lastly, the Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Crisis Response Team is recruiting now for their spring class. More information on this crucial program below. It’s really amazing that our City offers such resources to victims of death, violent crimes or traumatic incidents so please get the word out for volunteers to get involved.
