Bus ShelterPanorama CityI hope our newsletter finds you well. We are deep in Neighborhood Council elections now with online voting open in the Valley and the first polling day just a few weeks away. You may have seen some of EmpowerLA’s Neighborhood Council election outreach bus shelters and pole banners throughout the Los Angeles. There are several hundred citywide. We’re also assisting Neighborhood Councils with getting bus bench advertising in their area as well.  If your Neighborhood Council wants to join in on this outreach, please check out our how-to guides on Bus Shelters and Bus Benches and email Communications@empowerla.org with any questions.

The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners meet on Monday to finalize their mandated Neighborhood Council minutes policy. Many thanks to the Neighborhood Councils who have weighed in on the issue. They’ll also be discussing City Council President Herb Wesson’s request for Neighborhood Councils to agendize and submit a Community Impact Statement on the proposed DWP reform as well as City Council File #16-0298, which asks the CAO and CLA to report back on vacant City facility spaces that might be used by Neighborhood Councils per the Commission’s request. If you’d like to provide feedback on these issues, you can email your opinions to Commission@empowerla.org.

Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates meet tomorrow, and Chatsworth Neighborhood Council will be holding their selection process for their board tomorrow, too. Have a wonderful weekend!
