I hope our newsletter finds you well. I jinxed myself thinking how lucky I was that I didn’t get sick when I was on vacation, which usually happens, because I was out sick most of this week. Unfortunately, I missed the Board of Public Works’ meeting in the Harbor area on Monday night where they honored a group of Neighborhood Councils, including Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council, for their work on Clean Streets. EmpowerLA staffer, Octaviano Rios, was there to support so check out his article on the meeting below. Thanks, Octaviano!

Every year, we send out holiday cheer from Neighborhood Councils, the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and EmpowerLA to the rest of the City family. Many thanks to our staffer, Arin Abedian, for his creative card this year!

tom-meredith-christmasI was very excited to bump into Hollywood United Neighborhood Council board member and former Neighborhood Council Independent Election Administrator, Tom Meredith, in City Hall yesterday wearing a City Council employee badge! Tom is now Council District 4’s Community Outreach Coordinator for Councilmember David Ryu. I always enjoy bumping into our Neighborhood Council members in the hallways here whether they are advocating for their community or as in Tom’s case, are a new City employee!

Don’t forget that the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners will be meeting on Monday at City Hall. Monday’s also the deadline for Neighborhood Council Subdivision Applications.  Just a reminder that our EmpowerLA newsletter will be going dark the next few weeks and be back in action on January 6, 2017. Our offices will be closed for the holidays on Monday, December 26th, and Monday, January 2nd.

Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Holidays and and an Empowered New Year to you!!
