I hope our newsletter finds you well. City Clerk Holly Wolcott and I wrapped our regional alliance tour on Monday night with the Alliance of River Communities (ARC). We anticipate City Council taking action on this matter soon so if your Neighborhood Council hasn’t filed a Community Impact Statement for Council File 15-1022-S2 on our EmpowerLA’s Neighborhood Council online voting report back, please do so as soon as possible to make your voice heard.

Shout out to Sylmar Neighborhood Council board member, Ann Job, for not only tackling homelessness head on in Sylmar by helping to plan a Homelessness Connect event in the past and Los Angeles by being a Homelessness Liaison, but also for advocating at LA County level. Check out her statement supporting a 24 hour service homeless shelter services at the Sylmar Armory in the Daily News. Thank you, Ann, for being an awesome advocate!

Next Wednesday is the March 1st deadline for Neighborhood Council EmpowerLA Awards and the Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles Vanguard (NCCELAV) Award nominations. Don’t let your Neighborhood Council’s hard work or City Vanguards of Neighborhood Councils go unnoticed! We hope to see you at the EmpowerLA Awards Dinner at City Hall on Thursday, March 30, 2017 where we can appreciate our Neighborhood Council board members so RSVP now.

The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates Regional Budget Day is tomorrow at locations all across Los Angeles. Get yourselves and your community members out to talk about the City budget and services. Many thanks to the Budget Advocates for all of their hard work in planning the Budget Day!

Have a wonderful weekend!
