I hope our newsletter finds you well. Congratulations to Neighborhood Councils for hitting their goal of filing 200 Community Impact Statements (CIS) this fiscal year! Neighborhood Councils are at 207 this week, and there’s still a month to go yet. So if your Neighborhood Councils haven’t filed a CIS yet, there’s still time. Check out the list of Neighborhood Councils who’ve filed CIS.

Here’s a great opportunity for all Neighborhood Councils to be providing feedback on – CF: 14-0420 – CAO Miguel Santana’s New Policy for Repair and Management of Sidewalks Adjacent to Private Property. City Council will be holding a Special Joint Meeting of the Budget & Finance/Public Works Committees on Monday, June 1st, at 3:30 pm in City Council Chamber to hear a presentation on the CAO report. Please check it out in person or via live stream and have your Neighborhood Council weigh in via CIS.

We were very sad to hear that our friend, Deputy Mayor of Budget and Innovation Rick Cole, is leaving the City. He will be the new City Manager for Santa Monica so it’s definitely our loss and Santa Monica’s gain. Rick has been so very supportive of both the Neighborhood Councils and our department, and it’s been such a pleasure to work with him and his awesome team. We wish him the very best in his new position and hope he comes to visit often!

A reminder that next week’s Board of Neighborhood Commissioners’ meeting has been moved from June 2nd to June 4th in the Cypress Park area. The information is on our EmpowerLA calendar.

CicLAvia moves outside LA to Pasadena this weekend, but I’ll still be there to support. If I don’t see you on the road, have a relaxing weekend!

Best,

Grayce Liu,
General Manager
Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (aka) EmpowerLA
