In an effort to streamline and clarify the goals of his Back-to-Basics approach to city government, geared toward strengthening our economy and making City Hall more efficient and effective, Mayor Garcetti has issued, to date, eight executive directives that delineate plans for improving city services and promoting a thriving and sustainable economy. Throughout his term, the Mayor has worked to bring City Hall closer to Angelenos by deploying new tools to directly interact with constituents including the hashtag #LAMayor, the Mayor’s Help Desk in City Hall, Van Nuys, and South L.A., as well as open office hours and door-to-door walks.

Executive Directive 1: Great Streets Initiative

Executive Directive 2: Cybersecurity

Executive Directive 3: Open Data

Executive Directive 4: Intergovernmental Relations

Executive Directive 5: Emergency Drought Response

Executive Directive 6: Support for Film Industry

Executive Directive 7: Sustainable City Plan

Executive Directive 8: Clean Streets Initiative

“There are two essential elements to a strong city: a thriving economy that creates opportunity and pays the bills and a city government that delivers the core services that improve the quality of our life – safe streets, clean streets, and streets in good repair,” Garcetti said when issuing the Great Streets directive.

The directives crystallize the city’s priorities and put forward comprehensive plans for solving citywide issues by bringing together various city agencies and departments to come up with innovative solutions and useful collaborations.
