LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that the Los Angeles Emergency Management Department (EMD) will lead recovery efforts for the Porter Ranch community after the state confirms the leaking well at Aliso Canyon has been sealed. EMD will open a Local Assistance Center in the community to provide a centralized location where residents and businesses can access programs and services from a variety of agencies to help facilitate their return home and to their normal routines. The location and hours of the center will be announced soon after the state’s confirmation.

“My priority is the health, safety, and well-being of the Porter Ranch community,” said Mayor Garcetti. “Stopping the leak is only the first stage of recovery. Thousands of lives were upended by this disaster — and the City of Los Angeles is here to help people return to their homes, start doing business again, and get back to normal as quickly as possible.”

The City’s Local Assistance Center will offer a range of services including information on potential refunds related to disruption of City services, updates from the Los Angeles County Assessor based on change of residence during the relocation, disaster relief available to impacted businesses, and access to mental health services.
