Tonia Knightner of the Park Mesa Heights Community Council was featured this week in MomsLA’s ongoing series on moms serving on their Neighborhood Councils.

Besides being PMHCC Treasurer, Tonia is a realtor and the CEO and founder of A New Life 4 U Economic Development Corporation. She highlights the role of NCs in fostering an informed and engaged community, saying that the 40-50 stakeholders attending PMHCC’s monthly meetings “really come prepared.”

Remarking on the impact that Neighborhood Council involvement has on the family, Tonia says, “It’s our responsibility as moms, dads, grandparents, to teach our children the importance of civic engagement.”
