Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council Reaches Up for the World Special Olympics
On Thursday morning, the 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg for Special Olympics stopped by Lincoln Heights where they were hosted by Councilmember Gil Cedillo, LAPD, the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council, El Arca and other community organizations. The Special Olympics athletes from Germany attended the ceremony and cheered the carriers of the torch as it made its way through Los Angeles on its 120 city tour.
The Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council supported the housing of 100 of the athletes as well as the local logistics of the World Special Olympics along with other Neighborhood Councils in the City.
Opening ceremonies start on the evening of Saturday, July 25th, and will run until August 2nd. Tickets are still available on the World Special Olympics website.
