LA’s Housing + Community Investment Department (HCIDLA) is holding workshops to educate tenants on their rights. Topics include the new Tenant Buyout Notification Program, and the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO), which regulates rents on about 600,000 Los Angeles rental units, and which applies to 85 percent of the City’s rental housing. Tenants, landlords, Neighborhood Council Planning & Land Use committees, and any Angeleno interested in learning more about renters’ rights is invited to attend one of these upcoming workshops.

At these workshops, you’ll learn about when and how landlords can offer “cash for keys,” as well as allowable rent increases, legal reasons for evictions, payment of relocation assistance, the Rent Stabilization Ordinance complaint process, and more.

Workshop dates, times and locations are as follows. Please RSVP, using this online form or by calling (213) 928-9075. Some sessions are being conducted in Spanish; however, translation is available for all sessions. To make a request for translation or other accommodations, please phone (213) 928-9075 72 hours in advance of the workshop you plan to attend.

Please note that HCIDLA does not offer parking validations, so please make sure to check the availability and cost of parking at your workshop location. This page on the HCIDLA website gives parking details for each of their offices: http://hcidla.lacity.org/public-counters
