Teamwork among neighborhood councils was the key for a successful event at Ramona Hall in Highland Park on Friday, April 20. More than 225 people gathered together for free refreshments, arts and crafts making and a free screening of the popular movie COCO. Folks came as far as Altadena and Valencia, but many nearby neighbors attended by walking, biking or pushing strollers into the venue.

While the number of participants was impressive, the story behind the event involved coordination between three neighborhood councils along with staff from Councilmember Gil Cedillo’s office.

The Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council helped secure the location, the arts and craft table was supported by the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council, and the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council supplied the popcorn.

All three NCs provided outreach and communication for the event and their combined efforts made for an enjoyable and memorable event for many – and maybe first in a series of future such events!
