I hope our newsletter finds you well. I am really excited about our Neighborhood Council EmpowerLA Awards and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner next Thursday.  Many thanks to our awesome staff, led by Betty Wong Oyama, who have been planning a great event with delicious food for our Neighborhood Councils.  HUGE thanks to City Council President Herb Wesson for his generosity in being our main sponsor for the evening! Much appreciation as well to our Congress of Neighborhoods Planning Committee for assisting in the selection of our inaugural Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles Vanguard Award winner from the Department of Transportation, Senior Transportation Engineer, Mohammad Blorfroshan, for his outstanding collaboration with the Del Rey Neighborhood Council. It’s going to be a great evening to celebrate our 15 year anniversary of Neighborhood Councils and the wonderful work they do for the City so please come and join us. You must RSVP to attend, and the RSVP will close on Monday, March 27th.  Space is limited so RSVP asap!

This week, City Council took action on Council File 15-1022-S2 regarding online voting for Neighborhood Council elections by approving the use of online voting only for the forming Skid Row Neighborhood Council subdivision election at this time. The City Council will still look at the use of online voting for future Neighborhood Council elections so there is still time to weigh in on this issue with a Community Impact Statement if your Neighborhood Council has not already done so.

Our EmpowerLA Leadership Academy Bylaws Workshop Series continues in the east area tomorrow at the Eagle Rock City Hall at 9 am, while our Neighborhood Council Emergency Preparedness Alliance meets at the Emergency Management Department at 10 am. The Congress of Neighborhoods Planning Committee will be meeting on Sunday at 1 pm at the Hollywood Constituency Center.

Don’t forget that we will be closed on Monday, March 27th, in observance of Cesar Chavez Day.

Have a super weekend!
