Harbor City Neighborhood Council got a shoutout from City Councilmember Joe Buscaino for the local utility box mural program that they helped fund with a Neighborhood Purpose Grant. Harbor City NC’s Desi Sarcona, who chairs their Outreach/Communications and Beautification Committees, facilitated the creation of this program in the Harbor City area. Sarcona, who was a stakeholder at the time, applied for the grant, then held an art contest for local kids to get their artwork on the boxes.

This great image below from Councilmember Buscaino’s newsletter shows 3rd grader Rose Mary alongside one of the new murals that Harbor City sponsored, which is based on a drawing that she did. The mural was a surprise from Rose Mary’s former teacher and current Harbor City NC boardmember Sydney Baune.
